Secure group key agreement

چکیده

As a result of the increased popularity of group-oriented applications and protocols, group communication occurs in many different settings: from network multicasting to application layer teleand video-conferencing. Regardless of the application environment, security services are necessary to provide communication privacy and integrity. This thesis considers the problem of key management in a special class of groups, namely, dynamic peer groups. Key management, especially in a group setting, is the corner stone for all other security services. Dynamic peer groups require not only initial key agreement but also auxiliary key agreement operations such as member addition, member exclusion and group fusion. We discuss all group key agreement operations and present a concrete protocol suite, CLIQUES, which offers all of these operations. By providing the first formal model for group key establishment and investigating carefully the underlying cryptographic assumptions as well as their relations, we formally prove the security of a subset of the protocols based on the security of the Decisional Diffie-Hellman assumption; achieving as a side-effect the first provably secure group key agreement protocol.

Provably secure and efficient identity-based key agreement protocol for independent PKGs using ECC

Key agreement protocols are essential for secure communications in open and distributed environments. Recently, identity-based key agreement protocols have been increasingly researched because of the simplicity of public key management. The basic idea behind an identity-based cryptosystem is that a public key is the identity (an arbitrary string) of a user, and the corresponding private key is ...

SEAL: A secure communication library for building dynamic group key agreement applications

We present the SEcure communicAtion Library (SEAL), a Linux-based C language application programming interface (API) library that implements secure group key agreement algorithms that allow a communication group to periodically renew a common secret group key for secure and private communication. The group key agreement protocols satisfy several important characteristics: distributed property (...

Secure key agreement for group communications

-Many key establishment protocols have been proposed for secure group communications. However, these protocols share the limitations that group members are not mutually authenticated, dynamic group membership is not considered, and the cost of key establishment is substantial. A secure key agreement protocol for group communications is proposed in this paper, which ensures the authenticity of g...

Simple and Fault-Tolerant Key Agreement for Dynamic Collaborative Groups

Secure group communication is an increasingly popular research area having received much attention in the last several years. The fundamental challenge revolves around secure and efficient group key management. While centralized methods are often appropriate for key distribution in large groups, many collaborative group settings require distributed key agreement techniques. This work investigat...
